🧶 Wooly Nest Basic Felting Guide

(Capybara Bath Time Set)

✨ What You’re Making

  • Capybara
  • Hot Tub
  • Rubber Ducky

All three use the same simple felting method — just different shapes.

🪡 Tools Needed

  • Felting needle
  • Felting pad
  • Wool pieces (included)

🧠 Before You Start

  • Poke straight up and down (don’t bend the needle)
  • Start soft, then slowly firm it up
  • Take your time — shaping is everything 🙂

🧱 Step 1: Make the Base Shapes

Capybara (Rounded Body)

  1. Roll wool into a large oval
  2. Slightly flatten the bottom so it sits
  3. Keep the body smooth and chunky

Hot Tub (Thick Bowl Shape)

  1. Roll wool into a large ball
  2. Press down the center to form a bowl
  3. Build up the sides into a thick ring
  4. Keep the walls sturdy but slightly soft

Rubber Ducky (Tiny & Round)

  1. Roll a small ball for the body
  2. Add a smaller piece for the head
  3. Lightly attach and shape

🐾 Step 2: Add Details

Capybara

  • Add small rounded ears on top
  • Add tiny feet at the base
  • Add a lighter patch on the belly
  • Keep features subtle and soft

Hot Tub

  • Add vertical lines by lightly felting sections
    👉 This gives a “wood plank” look
  • Add small wool balls inside for bubbles

Rubber Ducky

  • Add a tiny beak
  • Keep it simple and rounded

😊 Step 3: Add the Face

For ALL characters:

  • Use small pieces of black wool
  • Lightly poke to create:
    • Eyes
    • Nose / beak
    • Simple mouth

👉 Keep faces minimal — that’s the Wooly Nest style

🛁 Step 4: Assemble the Scene

  • Place the capybara inside the tub
  • Add bubbles around it
  • Sit the rubber ducky:
    • On the capybara’s head
    • Or floating in the tub

🔒 Step 5: Final Touch

  • Lightly poke everything to:
    • Secure loose pieces
    • Smooth the surface
    • Refine the shapes
